Network Rail has selected SSE Enterprise Rail to upgrade electrical equipment at Liverpool Street Station.
The 'Liverpool Street Switch Panels and Distribution Board Project' will replace 25-year-old equipment at the station.
SSE will design and deliver a solution to replace the mechanical and electrical assets, while also improving electrical safety to help prevent major equipment failure.
In addition, it will develop a dedicated back-up electricity supply for the station and train shed lighting which will further improve reliability.
Overall, electrical distribution capacity at the station will be expanded by 25%.
