A road resurfacing programme is underway in Middlesbrough, Highways England has announced.
Contractors began repairing over 1.5 miles of the A174 from the B1365 Blue Bell to the A172 Stokesley Road on 03 May.
While work is being carried out overnight each weekday between 8pm and 6am, a full road closure is required from 8pm on Friday, 20 May until 6am on Monday, 23 May.
Diversions will be in place.
Highways England Project Manager Phil Leng said: "This project will provide drivers with safer and smoother journeys along this stretch of the eastbound A174 in Middlesbrough.
"Every effort is being made to ensure disruption to traffic is kept to a minimum. We are carrying out as much work as we can overnight while traffic levels are at their lowest.
"We need to close the A174 this weekend to allow deep level repairs to be made. These repairs would not be possible under overnight closures."
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the month, with work on the westbound carriageway due to begin on Tuesday, 31 May.
