Morgan Sindall has been selected to deliver a £1.7 million primary school expansion project in Great Yarmouth.

The two-phase scheme at Southtown Primary School is being delivered for Norfolk County Council.

The first phase will see Morgan Sindall extend the existing school hall and develop the central courtyard into a mixed-use learning area. Features include an ICT facility, a school library and a teaching area for food technology. The project team will also build two new classrooms, toilets and changing facilities to accommodate older children joining the school.

The project's second stage will get underway during the summer holidays and will include the relocation of the staffroom and the expansion of several classrooms in the school.

Gavin Napper, area director at Morgan Sindall, said: "We're delighted to have been appointed to this ambitious and important scheme which will help Southtown Primary School continue its journey to full primary status.

"The school is an integral part of the local community and this expansion will help to alleviate demand for school places in the rapidly-growing area."
