Southern Electric Power Distribution (SEPD) is underway with a £4.4 million electricity improvement scheme in Swindon.
The project involves laying a new underground cable between Cirencester and Fairford.
The upgrade work will enhance the reliability of Swindon's electricity supply along with expanding the networks capacity.
John Smart, Head of Planning and Investment for SEPD, said: "Planning and designing reliable electricity networks that meet the evolving needs of customers for years to come is a complex job, and we invest millions each year to make sure ours is more than 99.9% reliable.
"This £4.4 million investment will ensure our infrastructure is robust enough to meet this challenge so we can continue to provide our customers with the reliable supply of energy that they rightly expect."
