A Graham–BAM joint venture (JV) has been selected to deliver a new £95 million Acute Services Block for the Ulster Hospital in Belfast.
As the largest live healthcare project in Ireland, the building will replace the outdated existing main ward block and other specialist acute services within the hospitals estate.
Designed to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating, the eight-storey, 31,000 sq m block will feature incorporating specialist wards, support services, an assessment unit, inpatient imaging department, and a new emergency department.
In addition, the building will sit adjacent to another new £86 million ward facility being developed by the GRAHAM-BAM Healthcare Partnership, which is due to be completed in autumn.
The JV was appointed to the four-year, £185m construction framework in 2013.
