A £160,000 gas mains replacement project is due to begin this summer in Berkshire, National Grid has announced.

Engineers will begin installing new piping to replace ageing gas mains in Sunninghill from mid-late July until early September.

The work will take place in Sunninghill High Street between Bridge Road and Niven Court.

Underground camera surveys have already been carried out of the existing network to help with planning.

To enable the work to be carried out safely, traffic management measures will be in place.

Project Engineer Phil Walden explained: "We're doing all we can to deliver this project with as little disruption as possible.

"Camera surveys of the existing gas mains help us to identify the best way to do the job. We'll also be inserting the new pipes into the old gas main which means less digging in the road."

National Grid added a open meeting will be scheduled in the near future to allow people to find out more about the scheme.
