Mott MacDonald has appointed Steve Canadine as its development director for environment in the UK.
With over 20 years' experience in engineering and environmental consultancy, Mr Canadine will work to implement the company's strategy in the UK, Europe and Africa.
He was originally trained as a structural engineer and worked at Gifford for 15 years, where his project focus was on historic buildings, mixed-use developments and regeneration schemes.
Following Ramboll's acquisition of Gifford in 2011, Mr Canadine joined the company's executive board in the UK before becoming MD.
His responsibilities included buildings, transport and environment groups capable of providing engineering and associated specialist services.
James Harris, MD of Mott MacDonald's water and environment business, said: "Steve has undertaken a range of business and project leadership roles and is passionate about building teams who deliver excellence for the benefit of clients, consultancy and wider society."
"He is a fantastic addition to our existing team and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our environment business."
