Kier Group has appointed Paul Gandy as its UK building director in the south.

With 34 years' experience in the industry, Mr Grandy was previously Balfour Beatty's MD of operations in London.

In addition, he has worked for Lendlease as MD of its England and Wales activities, as well as holding senior roles at Carillion and Multiplex.


Mr Gandy's new role involves overseeing 100 sites within Kier's London, Southern and Western, and Wales divisions.

Peter Young, Kier executive director for Building UK, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Paul to Kier. His extensive industry experience will complement our existing management team and his broad understanding of the southern UK market will be invaluable as we work towards our Vision 2020."

Mr Gandy added: "Vision 2020 is an ambitious target and I'm eager to contribute to this and continue to grow Kier's existing presence across the south of the country."
