Property developer Richborough Estates has secured planning consent to build 50 new homes in Leicestershire.

The properties will be built on a 22-acre site near Great Bowden.

The development is in line with the region's local plan, with the village earmarked to accommodate some additional housing and will assist in ensuring the local authority has a five-year supply of housing land.

Regional Manager, Steve Louth, said: "Bowden is an attractive historic village and throughout this process we have been conscious of the need to respect the character of the area, with particular reference to the relationship with the Conservation Area and the adjacent listed building.

"We have cooperated with Harborough District Council and the local community to ensure that the scheme is an attractive addition to the village with minimal direct impact on the amenity of local residents.

"This has resulted in amendments to our initial proposals including reduction of densities and building heights, with each plot being carefully designed based on its location."
