Highways England are inviting residents to attend a public exhibition discussing maintenance work along the A27 in Worthing.

The drop-in event will be held at Worthing College from 3pm to 7pm today, 24 March.

The scheme involves the replacement of 82 street lights with 73 new energy efficient lights and involves 20 weeks of overnight carriageway closures.

Contractors will also resurface sections of carriageway between Offington Corner and Cote Street.

Highways England asset manager for Sussex, Peter Philips, said: "Upgrading the lights and resurfacing the road will help maintain safe and reliable journeys for drivers on the A27 and those that live next to it."

The street lighting replacement will be carried out overnight, using five full closures of the A27 from 18 April and is expected to be completed in early August.

Additional work will be carried out during the daytime, while resurfacing works will be carried out using overnight closures of the A27 between Grove Lodge and the Clapham junction.

Diversions will be in place.
