Work is to begin on a new £150 million hospital in North London.
Planning consent for the redevelopment of Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield has now been approved by the council's planning committee.
The project is being delivered by the Integrated Health Projects joint venture (JV) Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci, including healthcare architects IBI Group, TB&A and Thomasons.
Features of the five-storey building include an urgent care centre, inpatients, eight theatres, day surgery, outpatient ambulatory care zone, imaging, diagnostics and supporting facilities.
Future-proof solutions for the development by IBI Group include releasing funds from land sale and integrating housing and a new school into the plans to support the local community's infrastructure.
In addition, the design team has allowed for the future development of a new energy centre and multi-storey car park.
Enabling works are underway with completion of the Healthcare Building planned for summer 2018.
Construction is scheduled to start this spring.
