A contractor has been fined for health and safety failings on a re-roofing project in Bedford.
Bernard Buck of Prinknash Road, Bedford, pleaded guilty to breaching Section 33(1)(g) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
He was fined £1,200 with over £1,000 in costs.
Luton Magistrates' Court heard how Mr Buck was fined for failing to comply with a Prohibition Notice served after he was witnessed carrying out roof work in an unsafe manner at Premier Motor Company, Manton Lane on 01 October 2015.
A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigation found that the contractor had failed to properly assess the risks associated with the work and implement appropriate controls.
In addition, he showed no indication of caring about the safety of his own or the subcontractors' safety.
