Architectural works are now complete at a biomass plant in Sheffield, E.ON has revealed.
The Blackburn Meadows Biomass Plant has been designed in partnership with BDP to create a 'striking' new landmark for the city.
The plant's exterior is clad in black profiled steel and dark brick, with an orange polycarbonate enclosure which houses the boilers.
Other design features include green roofs on the plant's visitor centre and landscaping to the south of the site.
Mike Wake, Head of Business Heat & Power Solutions at E.ON, said: "Blackburn Meadows is a shining example of the continued investment we're making in renewable energy generation in the UK.
"The site has for many years been associated with the energy industry and the iconic Tinsley Towers. From an architectural perspective, therefore, our goal for Blackburn Meadows was to design a plant that would reflect the history of the site and which would also provide a visually striking landmark."
