Essential Living has been granted approval by Ealing Council for a £200 million development in London.

The build-to-rent specialist will redevelop a 2.8-acre disused perfume factory site into 500 new homes in North Acton.

Designed by architects Squire and Partners, the scheme includes developing two 33- and 37-storey tall towers.

Between 65,000 and 75,000 sq ft of commercial space will be built along with 53,000 sq ft of landscape, green space and courtyard spaces.

In addition, 100 car parking spaces will be developed along with cycle facilities.

Overall, the project is London's largest build-to-rent scheme.

Chief Operating Officer, Martin Bellinger, said the planning approval "highlights the growing ability of the build-to-rent sector to make a very real contribution to Britain's housing needs, while providing renters with a new service-led offer that treats them like customers for the first time".

A main contractor will be selected next year, with construction scheduled to begin in 2018.
