Network Rail has completed repair works to a railway line in Northumberland, it has been announced.

Engineers have been working since January to clear over 35,000 tonnes of soil and debris after a burst drainage pipe caused a landslip at Farnley Hough near Corbridge.

Rail services on the West Line between Carlisle and Newcastle will now resume from Monday, 08 February, Network Rail said.

Rob McIntosh, route MD, said: "The unprecedented weather which led to the landslip, and which has continued throughout the clear up, presented us with a series of difficult engineering challenges but I am pleased to confirm that the work has gone to plan and that passenger services will resume from Monday."
