Skanska has been appointed to West Sussex County Council's £250 million highways framework.

The six-year deal is part of a major investment into the country's roads and associated structure.

Jobs carried out on the Major Projects Framework are likely to include

large bypass schemes, town centre redevelopments, highway structural improvements, carriageway resurfacing, and drainage improvements.

Two separate lots are available on the framework. One involves projects worth under £2m while the second covers large design and build contracts valued at over £2m.

Skanska will be able to win projects on the second lot and the first contracts are expected to be awarded in February.

Skanska Operations Director Gerry Curran said: "We are delighted to be supporting West Sussex County Council in the delivery of such a substantial infrastructure investment.

"This framework is an excellent mechanism through which we can help the council to provide significant improvements for road users. It will further integrate the authority's planning, design and construction processes, meaning that projects are completed in the most timely and cost-effective way possible."
