Kier has been awarded a £27.5 million contract to develop a major office scheme in West Sussex.

Development company Bridgecore has selected the firm to design and build the Cornerstone office project in Crawley.

The 131,000 sq ft grade A development has been pre-let to Swedish company Elektra and will be located adjacent to its existing UK headquarters in the Manor Royal Business District.

In addition to developing office spaces, Kier will build a 378-space car park with a potential £5m Cat B fit-out project in a second phase.

The project team includes architects TP Bennett, quantity surveyor Quantem Consulting LLP, M&E engineer Waterman Building Services and structural engineer Price & Myers.

Steve Cresswell, Operations Director, said: "The delivery of this flagship project will require around 150 people working on site at its peak, which means it's also an important scheme for Crawley and the area's economy – we will build on our strong local relationships with our supply chain, education providers and the Borough Council throughout the project to help create valuable employment and training opportunities."

The project is due for completion in November 2017.
