Graham Construction has been selected to deliver the first £22.7 million building of a science park scheme for the University of Reading.

The firm will develop the Gateway Building as the first stage of the Thames Valley Science Park.

It will be one of four buildings to be built on the 42 acre site in Shinfield.

Features of the project include high-quality laboratories and flexible office spaces aimed at attracting SME technology companies.

In addition, associated amenities will be developed including a cafe and conference suite.

Director of the Thames Valley Science Park at the University of Reading, David Gillham said: "We are delighted to appoint GRAHAM Construction who have shown that they have the skills and expertise to deliver this prestigious project."

Graham's London office director, Rob Joyce, added: "The Thames Valley Science Park Gateway Building is the first project to be tendered for and announced under the University of Reading's £250m capital works programme and marks a significant milestone."

The science park will eventually provide 800,000 sq ft of laboratory and office space within a pedestrianised central area with shared facilities.
