Ringway Infrastructure Services has secured a £75 million contract to deliver highway maintenance for Wiltshire Council.

The five-year deal is worth £15m annually and involves maintaining roads, street lights and pavements, clearing drains, gritting roads and emergency repairs.

In addition, the contract has a possible extension of two years.

It is understood Balfour Beatty Living Places agreed to a previous contract, however the deal was terminated mutually.

Previously, Ringway ran the contract between 1999 and 2013.

Philip Whitehead, cabinet member for highways, said: "I am delighted we have been able to award the contract to a partner we have had such a successful working relationship with in the past.

"I believe this deal is the best one possible for the people of Wiltshire in terms of value for money, but most importantly quality."
