McLaren Scoops £48m Office Refurb Contract

McLaren Construction has been chosen to deliver a £48 million office redevelopment scheme in London.

The firm was awarded the contract by Mercer Real Estate.

The 85-week project involves redeveloping a 1980's office block at 160 Aldersgate Street opposite the Barbican residential area.

The scheme, designed by Fletcher Priest Architects, will provide 266,000 sq ft of modern office space.

Refurbishment works include building an extra floor and freeing up roof space for additional terraces.

In addition, the existing façade will be replaced while the atrium and main entrance will be updated.

The buildings floor space will also be reconfigured.

Steve Hart, Regional MD of McLaren, said: "This is the first contract McLaren has secured with Mercer Real Estate and to have won this job is a testament to our growing reputation and track record in the London commercial sphere. 160 Aldersgate is an exciting project which will create prime commercial office space within the City of London."

McLaren will begin construction in October and the project is due to be completed in August 2017.
