A national benchmark consisting of the UK's largest homebuilders has ranked Linden Homes as one of the top companies in the UK for sustainability.

The Galliford Try-owned business has been placed fourth for sustainable working by the NextGeneration initiative.

The organisation encourages companies to provide more sustainable homes and is operated by representatives from UK Green Building Council and the Homes and Communities Agency.

Assessors presented the company with a silver award and said: "A strong commitment to community engagement and a determination to build sustainable communities all contribute to making Linden Homes a worthy award winner.

"It is building on its sustainability credentials with significant successes at Graylingwell Park, one of the UK's largest carbon neutral developments, Home @ Heartlands in Cornwall and its partnership with Gateshead Council and the social landlord Home Group, to build 2,400 new, sustainable homes across 19 sites over the next 15-20 years."

Andrew Richards, Linden Homes group MD, added: "Climbing further up the NextGeneration rankings is another strong sign that our focus on sustainability is working.

"We're determined to continue this improvement and be a national leader."
