BAM Construction has started work to deliver a £24 million office block in Surrey.

The contractor will build the Tamesis One development for Royal London alongside the River Thames in Surrey.

The project involves 11,600 sq m of office space spread out over five storeys as well as a 300-space car park and landscaping.

The steel-frame building will be raised above the flood plan so the space under the building and the ground floor of the car park can utilised as a reservoir for flood water.

The scheme is expected to be complete in January 2017 and will achieve a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating.

Gary Dowden, pre-construction director, said: "BAM has a reputation for successfully delivering commercial developments such as this, and we are delighted to have another chance to build on that reputation.

"We will work hard to ensure we do the best for the local community and environment through construction and with the finished building."
