Mace has started work on a £400 million redevelopment of the Television Centre in west London.

Ground breaking works in November signalled the start of construction at the 130,000 sq m site at White City.

The mixed-use project is to provide 950 homes, offices for the creative industries and a wide range of leisure facilities.

A new Soho House will be built including a 47-bedroom hotel, a roof terrace and a swimming pool plus shops, cafes and restaurants arranged around the Helios statue in the iconic 'doughnut' building.

Jon Foster, Mace Project Director at Television Centre, said: "This is a great project to be part of and Mace is looking forward to getting stuck in and progressing with the construction work. This is an important community project and there is some great history here which we are going to preserve and improve for future generations."

Alastair Shaw, Stanhope's Managing Director of Television Centre, added: "This development is really exciting because the building isn't just going to contain apartments or office space, but it will be a mixed use redevelopment, including film and production studios that will be retained as part of its history, and still be used by television and production companies."
