Britcon has been awarded a contract to build a new multi-million pound store for Lidl in Leicester.

The civil engineering contractor has recently completed store expansions in Coventry, Leicester, Grimsby, and Barton on Humber.

The 28-week project involves converting an existing retail site on Burton Street.

Three units will be redeveloped to relocate an existing Staples store on the site and create a 20,000 sq ft Lidl store.

Other features of the project include a new roof, a new entrance, and modern external cladding works with curtain wall glazing.

Britcon will also deliver new mezzanine levels within a complete internal fit out and new external parking facilities with landscaping on the site.

In addition, the building contractor has also been appointed to deliver a major expansion to Lidl's existing store in Brigg, North Lincolnshire.

It will provide a 2.000 sq ft extension to provide a new bakery, with work on the 12-week project beginning next week.
