The first phase of new market housing on Cambridge University's £1 billion development project has been granted planning consent.

Housebuilder Hill is to deliver a mixture of 240 apartments, townhouses and family homes on the North West Cambridge Development.

The scheme has been designed by architectural practices Pollard Thomas Edwards and Alison Brooks Architects.

The project will be built to Level 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Construction of the new homes is expected to begin at the start of 2016.
