Experienced construction executive Roger Robinson has been selected to head the HS2 joint venture (JV) between Morgan Sindall, BAM and Ferrovial.
The former Laing O'Rourke Europe chief will act as independent Chairman of 'Fusion'.
The Birmingham-based JV will bid for contracts on the high speed rail scheme including enabling works, surface route, viaduct, tunnels and stations.
In addition, the 'Fusion' partners have been working together for the past three years on setting up the JV.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr Robinson said: "To be involved in HS2 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – and Fusion is ready to make it a reality.
"The amalgamation of our portfolios and the pool of talent available in our people and supply chain is extraordinary.
"We are uniquely placed to support HS2 in connecting communities across the UK to new opportunities and growth, and to take the construction industry to the next level in terms of collaborative delivery of significant infrastructure.
"We are committed to realising HS2's potential in harmony with the communities along the route, and in collaboration with the many other organisations that will form the HS2 team."
