Highways England To Begin A595 Drainage Works

A £500,000 project to tackle flooding issues along the A595 is due to begin, Highways England has announced.

A section of the northbound carriageway in Cumbria is set to undergo repair works today, Monday 23 November.

Drainage along the route between Lillyhall and its junction with the A66 at Dobies will be repaired or replaced to reduce surface water flooding.

Highways England project manager Peter Gee said: "This scheme will reduce incidents of surface water flooding and give road users more reliable journeys."

To carry out the works, the northbound carriageway will be closed nightly – between 8pm and 6am each night – from Dobies roundabout to Joseph Nobles Road.

During the day, traffic management works will be in place between 6am and 8pm along with signed diversions.

It is understood the project will be finished by Friday, 15 January.
