Welsh firm Dawnus is preparing to start work on a new £26.7 million secondary school in Wokingham.

The company will develop the new school in Aborfield, the first new build secondary school academy in Wokingham for over 60 years.

The two-storey building will comprise of 6,280m2 along with associated external works and parking provision.

It will feature two courtyards which will be landscaped to provide external classrooms and dining areas.

In addition, playing fields and an all-weather floodlit pitch will be developed.

The school forms part of the council's larger strategic development scheme for Arborfield.

It will be delivered in phases and cater for up to 1,500 pupils when completed. The first phase will provide capacity to meet the initial Year 7 intake in September 2016.

The second phase will complete the school and sports facilities, increasing the capacity to 1,200 pupils by September 2017.

The final phase will provide an additional 300 places for future growth.
