A £1m project to upgrade a train station in Wiltshire has been completed.

The government investment means that Trowbridge station will be more accessible and contain better facilities for passengers.

The improvements include:


• New waiting shelters on both platforms.

• Two new ticket vending machines.

• New cycle parking shelters on both platforms and in the car park.

• New handrails on the footbridge for easier pedestrian access.

• Upgraded steps and ramp to platform 1.

• Improvements to the car park including a new resurfaced layout, additional spaces, and new lighting.

• An electric car charging point.

Rail Minister Claire Perry said: "The enhancements at Trowbridge station are going to make journeys better for all customers. They are significant improvements that provide the local community and businesses with a station fit for the 21st century."

The project was delivered by a number of partners, including First Great Western, Wiltshire Council, Network Rail and the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership.
