UCATT has welcomed new Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn's promise to support a council housebuilding programme in a future government.
Speaking at a TUC Congress on 15 September, Mr Corbyn said: "The free market isn't solving the problems of housing."
The new leader also committed Labour to fighting both the Trade Union Bill and the Welfare Reform Bill.
National Secretary of UCATT, Brian Rye, said: "Jeremy Corbyn spelled out his vision to create a fairer and more equal society.
"His commitment to solving the housing crisis is welcome and long overdue, he recognises this cannot be achieved without a massive council housebuilding programme."
