BLF To Invest £20m In Public Parks And Cemeteries

The Big Lottery Fund (BLF) has announced it is to invest £20 million in public parks and cemeteries in England.

£10m will be invested in 2016/17, and another £10m in 2017/18.

Combined with the Heritage Lottery Fund's (HLF) commitment of £20m per year under the Parks for People programme, the total budget now available is £30m per year for new projects.

The Parks for People programme provides funding of between £100,000 and £5m.

Organisation's can apply for grants for various projects, such as repairing heritage features and opening new facilities.

Peter Ainsworth, Chair of the Big Lottery Fund, said: "In partnership with HLF we've invested almost £290m since 2006 in rejuvenating our parks to help make sure they can be enjoyed now and for years to come."

HLF will also continue to make an additional £4m available for projects in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
