Highways England is to invest over £3 million to improve a stretch of the A194 motorway in Tyneside.

Contractors for Highways England are currently resurfacing almost four miles of the northbound motorway from the A1 (M) at junction 65 to the Whitemarepool junction.

Lanes 1 and 2, the hard shoulder and adjacent slip roads will be resurfaced as part of the work, which is due to begin on 14 September.

Lane and full carriageway closures will be required to set up and remove the contraflow at the beginning and end of the works.

Signed diversions will be in place.
