Highways England is to carry out a £1.2m improvements programme on a five mile stretch of the A1 carriageway in Northumberland.
Resurfacing work will begin from the B6525 Oxford junction to Scremerston, where the A1 meets with the A1167, on 15 September.
Further works include replacing thirteen road signs, laying improved road markings and installing 425 road studs.
The programme will be carried out in three phases.
The first phase of work will involve a full closure of the A1 between East Ord roundabout and Scremerston junction from 8pm on 18 September until 6am on 21 September.
Traffic diversions will be in place.
The project is due to be completed in early November.
