Housebuilder Miller Homes has been granted planning permission to develop a new housing project.
Telford & Wrekin Council has given the green light towards the creating a new community on the eastern edge of Telford in Priorslee.
Plans include building 1,100 new homes, a local centre featuring a primary school, sports areas and a community centre.
A retirement village with areas of play space and parkland will also be developed.
Up to 1,600 construction-related jobs will be created during the project.
Sulie Morgan, Strategic Planning Manager at Miller Homes, said: "We are delighted that Telford & Wrekin Council has approved our development at Priorslee."
The development will be built in three phases over a period of 13 years, with construction work due to begin in 2017.
