Highways England Announces Overnight Closures On A1 Motorway

Highways England has announced overnight road closures on the A1 motorway due to installation works.

The road will be closed in both directions from junction 4 (Hatfield) to junction 6 (Welwyn) from 10pm until 5am for two nights beginning 1 September.

This is to allow work to install two key gantries weighing a combined 76 tonnes to be completed.

Highways England project manager Mark Saunders said: "This work is necessary to complete the gantry work on the A1(M) and will involve using a crane to lift the gantries into place."

During the closures, traffic will be diverted via the B197 and A6129.
