An unregistered gas installer has been given a suspended 18 month prison sentence for carrying out unsafe work and using a counterfeit Gas Safe registration.
Norwich Crown Court heard how James Gotts, 39, of Surlingham Road, Bramerton, Norfolk carried out gas work at five premises in the Norwich area between July 2013 and January 2014.
The work he completed at three premises was considered 'at risk' or 'immediately dangerous' by Gas Safe Register.
He was sentenced to six months imprisonment after pleading guilty to an offence under Section 3(1) of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
He was sentenced to a further six months in prison after pleading guilty to an offence under Regulation 3(3) of the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.
In addition, he was given 180 hours community service and ordered to pay £1,092 in costs
