Costain has announced its Technical Director, Bill Hewlett, has been elected to the board of the Engineering Council (EC).
The EC is responsible for setting and maintaining the generic standards for professional competence for all professional engineers in the UK.
Mr Hewlett, who was elected for a three-year term with the option of it being renewed for a further three years, joins the council having been nominated by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), where he has been vice-president with responsibility for membership.
Speaking on his election, Mr Hewlett said: "I look forward to working with a group of eminent individuals in making beneficial change in the industry."
