Premier Interlink has been named as preferred bidder by EDF Energy for a £40m accommodation contract at the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project in Somerset.
Premier, part of the Waco International Group, has been appointed to design and develop a number of modular buildings covering more than 38,000m2, with work scheduled to last 16 months.
The buildings will provide office and welfare facilities during the construction phase of the new nuclear power plant, which will take approximately 10 years.
Close to 1,000 steel framed modules will be developed off-site at Premier's manufacturing facility in East Yorkshire. These will then be transferred to the Hinkley Point C site.
Eugenio De Sa, Managing Director and David Harris, Divisional Director, said: "We at Premier see the real benefits of this project as not just sitting within our company. We are excited that this will also be of significant benefit to the local region in terms of both sub-contractor and supplier opportunities to support this major construction project."
