Motorway Project Finishes Ahead Of Schedule

A £14 million scheme to lift new beams into place on the Chieveley interchange on the M4 has been completed early.

Full weekend closures scheduled for the roundabout below the M4 and the A34 in both directions have now been cancelled.

The scheme involved undertaking three essential bridge maintenance schemes to the M4 Welford Viaduct (between junctions 13 and 14) and the M4 Junction 13 Chieveley interchange structures.

Remaining construction to complete the scheme will be completed using the current narrow lanes on the M4 and overnight lane closures on the M4 and junction 13 roundabout.

Highways England Delivery Manager, Steve Cobb, said: "It is great news for local residents and businesses in the Chieveley area and for everyone who uses this busy interchange that these closures have been lifted earlier than scheduled.

"The work will also ensure that the interchange remains safe and serviceable for years to come."
