Clugston Construction has started working on a £10 million modern events hall at the Great Yorkshire Show Ground in Harrogate.
The firm is underway with the demolition of existing exhibition buildings to make way for a new hall.
The facility, designed by P+HS Architects, will provide 4,320m2 of open span, versatile space to suit a wide range of events from blue chip company conferences to large dinners, exhibitions and sporting events.
Heather Parry, Deputy Chief Executive of Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) said: "We are delighted to be starting work on such an exciting project, the largest in our organisation's history. There's so much potential in this development for us, our region and beyond."
Steve Radcliffe, Managing Director at Clugston Construction, said: "We look forward to continuing the relationship we have established with the YAS team during the design and development stage and working with our supply chain to deliver the new events hall for next summer."
The new events hall is scheduled to be completed in summer 2016.
It will offer a café, large foyer, offices and dedicated workshop/seminar space, all set within a 250 acre site located on the edge of the town.
