Protec International Launches TecDura

Construction News Image

Protec International has launched TecDura, a new temporary protection solution which not only protects any surface from all sorts of damage, but also contributes towards reducing slips and trips on construction sites.

Around one thousand construction workers get fractured bones and dislocated joints from slips and trips every year in the UK.

The three major causes of these injuries are uneven surfaces, changes in level and wet surfaces. Limiting slip and trip hazards involves implementing good housekeeping rules and using the right protective materials.

TecDura is a quality floor protection solution aimed specifically at reducing the risk of slips and trips. It is accredited to Health and Safety slip resistance standard 52 when wet, and uses a high quality, patented adhesive, designed to withstand the challenges from construction sites so that it will not warp over time. TecDura even offers UV and bacteria resistant protection, so it will last the duration of even long construction projects.

Darren Moore, Managing Director at Protec International, said: "Many construction sites use multiple materials to protect the floor such as felt, hardboard and plywood.

"However, this causes slippery and uneven surfaces. What is more, when these materials dry, it causes bulges which makes the surface uneven. TecDura will not become slippery and will not bulge when it dries, assisting in the prevention of slips and trips on construction sites."

In the UK, the construction industry is responsible for the highest rate of injuries in the work place which not only delays work schedules, companies can be fined thousands in personal injury claims.

More must be done to avoid and reduce the number of injuries on construction sites and TecDura helps construction sites take a step in the right direction.
