Casella has launched a new ground-breaking, next generation noise dosimeter, enabling employee noise exposure monitoring and reporting in real time and without disruption to workers.
dBadge 2 significantly enhances the productivity of onsite noise measurement and boosts confidence in collected data.
The dBadge 2 has been designed following invaluable feedback from occupational hygienists and other professionals responsible for health and safety, and includes a number of new features that enhance functionality and connectivity. dBadge 2 works alongside the Airwave app, which runs (at launch) on Android smartphones and other devices.
This enables real time data collection with the ability to share information instantly by email along with photos of the task being carried out and additional notes, for quick and simple analysis and reporting.
The compact dBadge 2 works within a typical 25 metre range of its linked smart device, allowing measurement with minimal disruption to employees. It also has a built-in motion sensor, which registers the amount of time that it has been worn - or not - in order to validate the measurement data. However, due to its cable-free design, weight of only four ounces and the ability to be interrogated remotely, Casella has reduced the likelihood of workers removing the device by making it unobtrusive and comfortable to wear.
The easy to use app enables the user to fully control the noise dosimeter including the commencement and pausing of noise monitoring. It delivers alerts in the event of overexposure to noise to allow an intervention and provides a summary of important information on not only noise level, but also the performance and status of the dBadge 2 itself, such as its battery life.
"dBadge 2 is a significant development in terms of protecting the health of workforces, across a broad range of industries that are at risk of occupational noise induced hearing loss," said Neal Hill, Product Line Manager at Casella.
He added, "Casella strives to turn data into insights, actions and positive outcomes for the health, safety and wellbeing of the global workforce, and the new dBadge 2 goes a long way in supporting and achieving that objective."
