A topping out ceremony has been held for a development in West London after it reached significant milestone.
Development Securities and Aberdeen Property Trust's 12 Hammersmith Grove office project has reached an elevation of 11 storeys.
The topping out ceremony comes in the wake of data published by CBRE, predicting that London will need an additional 5.1m sq ft of office space by 2019.
Wates began developing the scheme in July last year following the completion of the neighbouring 10 Hammersmith Grove in 2013.
The new development, designed by Flanagan Lawrence, includes 167,000 sq ft of Grade A office provision, retail space and additional public realm works.
'Green' employees will be encouraged through the installation of electric car charge points and 257 cycle racks.
It is located adjacent to Hammersmith tube station and opposite Lyric Square.
Phil Shortman, Managing Director of Wates London, said: "Demand for office space in the capital is ever-increasing and we’re certainly anticipating a sharp surge on the horizon for the speculative office market.
"Increasing in equal measure however is the quality of specification that developers are pioneering for their new commercial schemes and 12 Hammersmith Grove, alongside number 10, is set to become an exceptional work space in a prime location."
The project is scheduled to reach completion in early 2016 and is expected to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
