Amey has been announced as the preferred bidder for a waste collection and treatment services contract for the Isle of Wight.

The 25 year deal will see Amey, through its waste management business AmeyCespa, deliver both waste and treatment services on behalf of the Island's council.

Features of the contact include the collection, treatment and disposal of household waste and recyclable material.

Amey will also provide civic amenity sites and bottle banks, reuse and minimisation services along with the treatment and disposal of waste delivered by third parties.

In line with the council's sustainability objectives, the contract also includes a requirement to operate a reuse and waste minimisation service.

"We want to deliver innovative and good value environmental and waste services, which meet the needs of the residents and also save the council money.
