Construction union UCATT is urging workers to check their wages to make sure employers have adhered to the latest pay deal.
From today, 29 June, pay rates for workers covered by the Construction Industry Joint Council increase by 3 per cent.
The new minimum rate for a General Operative is £8.52 an hour and the rates rise to the craft rate of £11.33 an hour.
As well as pay, travel and fare allowance, subsistence (lodging) rates and sick pay have all increased.
Brian Rye, Acting General Secretary of construction union UCATT, said: "There is no excuse for companies not to honour the pay rise. UCATT will not allow construction workers to be exploited. If a company refuses to pay the rate, we will consider all possible measures in order to ensure they do so."
