Highways England have issued a notice of resurfacing work on the A19 Billingham Bypass southbound carriageway from Monday 29 June.
Work will be carried out on the 2.5 mile stretch of carriageway over four days, taking place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00.
Highways England project manager, Kyle Maylard, said: "We need to carry out these repairs and the resurfacing work to make sure people’s journeys remain smooth, safe and reliable.
"We’ll be carrying out the work overnight, at a time when the fewest people are using the road and we thank drivers for their patience.
"During the overnight closures a clearly signed diversion route will be in place. Drivers will be diverted via the A689 Wolviston Road and the A1027 to re-join the A19 at the A19/A1027 interchange."
