The National Federation of Builders (NFB) has announced its new national chair.
Henry Boot Managing Director Simon Carr will be sworn in to the NFB at the federations annual general meeting on 23 June.
Current NFB chair John Maddock will hand over the position to Mr Carr.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Carr said: "It is an honour and a privilege to be able to lead the NFB over the next twelve months.
I shall be focusing on both the challenges and barriers to growth that face our industry, building on the good work of my predecessors and the NFB executive team."
"This includes access to finance, pipeline of opportunities, open and smart procurement, poor payment practices, greater engagement with schools and the curriculum, reducing bureaucracy and last but not least the training and the skills needed to deliver the infrastructure to support a modern economy."
Mr Carr has worked in the construction industry for over 35 years and joined Henry Boot Construction Limited in 1988.
He served as chair of NFB’s north east region prior to his commencing as national chair.
