Thomson Habitats has been awarded a £300,000 contract to undertake Japanese knotweed remediation works for AMCO at the Stanton Cross development in Wellingborough.

The works are part of a plan which includes a significant upgrade to Wellingborough Station and the development of 5000 new houses.

In order to facilitate the construction of a new access road and a new rail bridge, Japanese knotweed contaminated soil needs to be removed from the footprint of the development and associated construction works, and to prevent further spread and contamination around the site.

The works consist of vegetation clearance, excavation and haulage of approximately 6500m3 of Japanese knotweed, stockpiling and bunding on geotextile root barrier membrane and subsequent ongoing herbicide treatment.
