Network Rail has announced a bridge has reopened to the public in Wiltshire

The Corsham footbridge was replaced as part of the company's electrification programme to enable a new fleet of green electric trains.

A 500 tonne crane lifted the new structure over properties and into position.

The bridge reopened on 8 June and will serve commuters in Wiltshere travelling between Cardiff and London.

Andy Haynes, Network Rail's West of England Project Director, said: "We were very aware that the temporary closure of this bridge could inconvenience residents, which is why my team worked hard to complete the work in as short a timeframe as possible."

"Now it is complete, we are another step closer to bringing the benefits of electrification and the new electric trains to Wiltshire."
