The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) has welcomed a new programme promised by the Conservative Government.

In her speech today 27 May, the Queen described the Government's new legislative programme.

In one of the agendas, Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged to create three million more apprenticeships over the next five years.

Director of Policy at the CITB, Steve Radley, welcomed the new scheme.

Mr Radley added employers and the Government now need to "get together" to work out how to deliver the promises.

He said: "The potential for developing skills and providing careers for the next generation is enormous but we will only achieve this by setting out bold new ways to get there.

"This means finding better ways to attract new entrants, developing more desirable models for learners and employers and working with providers to help them deliver the training that industry needs."

Mr Radley added the CITB will look forward to working with the Government and employers to deliver the initiative.
